Solidarity with the People of Turkey!

Comrades,

It is easy to fall into darkness where we think things cannot get any better, where we acquiesce to defeat before we even begin. But the Turkish people cannot be hidden behind clouds of tear gas: their heroic fight is a spark that ignites the imagination of millions of people towards the possibilities of a better world.

We witness the courage and the bravery of mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters fighting against the proto-fascist government of Erdogan who has no trouble sleeping at night knowing he has injured over 8,000 of his own people, killed 4 of his brothers, and blinded 11 of his countrymen. The real allegiance of the Turkish government is exposed. Erdogan’s family, class and nationality is with global capitalists and not the Turkish people he subjects to open terror. As his government calls for national unity, they sell every inch of their country to the capitalists of the world.

A few days ago, over 100 socialists were detained and their houses raided. The complete assault on the resistance continues in Turkey. The Turkish government is waiting for the American and Western Media to look away to strategically attack certain groups. They use the “War on Terror” to detain, arrest and torture Kurds, socialists, communists, radicals, anarchists, and anyone who has the courage to take a stand against oppression. It is our duty everywhere to expose these crimes.

The resistance springing up around the world shows that our problems immediately appear local or national, but in reality, they are international. As protests spread to every city in Turkey, we witnessed Brazilians fighting against public services that are becoming unaffordable.  In no time, the connections were made in Taksim Square where a Brazilian flag appeared. We are all fighting the same sociopathic beast that summarily devours human lives and through our collective struggle, we are increasingly becoming aware of our own power.

The greatest solidarity we would hope to send is a movement of our own, a movement that transforms the imperialist United States, the financier of world reaction, the despot’s armory of gas canisters and weapons, into a base of proletarian power. Until our moment comes, take these words as a promise that we will never forget that our struggles are united and that we are going to demolish this system together, brick by brick.

Long Live the Turkish Resistance!

From your comrades in the United States
